How to Stop a Gallbladder Attack with Apple Cider Vinegar

apple cider vinegar for gallbladder attack

Is there a natural, easy, and effective way to stop gallbladder pain –  in 15 minutes?

My research through thousands of testimonials has shown that the answer is YES.

A gallbladder attack usually begins a few hours after having a “fatty” meal, when a gripping pain starts in your upper right abdomen near the rib cage.

Sometimes it can radiate to your upper back as well, but even if not – it’s pretty scary when your insides are going haywire.

Most first-timers will be frightened enough to run to the ER, where they’ll meet an eager-to-cut surgeon who will be happy to remove their gallbladder.

But unless your gallbladder pain is unbearable, or comes with a fever and chills, a trip to ER may not be necessary.

What if I told you there’s a gallbladder attack home remedy that can calm a gallbladder attack in about 15 minutes?

And the best part is:

All you need are two common household ingredients.

How to Stop a Gallbladder Attack in 15 Minutes

Thousands of people have testified that following this home cure can ease your gallbladder pain fast (in as little as 2 minutes!).

Most feel a huge relief in about 15 minutes, allowing them to fall asleep and wake up pain-free.

The ACV Gallbladder Pain Remedy

Here’s the kicker:

You’ll only need these 2 ingredients, to relieve your pain at home:

1. 2-3 tablespoons raw organic Apple Cider Vinegar (with the mother)

2. 8 ounces of organic apple cider or juice

Instructions:

1. Mix ACV and apple juice.

2. Drink slowly but within 10-15 minutes.

The ACV is quite strong and for some people, it can be hard to get down.

This can be solved by sucking on a lemon wedge after each gulp to minimize the strong taste.

To make this even more powerful:

1. Use an infrared heating pad (or a regular one if you don’t have it) on low while laying on your right side – to promote bile duct flow.

2. Drink Dandelion Root tea (save 5% with code EPP3583) after the ACV remedy [2 teaspoons or 2 tea bags steeped in 8 oz water for 15 minutes).

3. Massaging gallbladder during the attack – a hard mid-back massage can be helpful during a gallbladder attack.

If you have someone around who can massage your middle back with Peppermint oil (mixed with a carrier oil) that would be helpful, or you can use a self-massage tool, such as an electric back massage pillow.

You should feel relief after about 15 minutes.

If it happens in the middle of the night, you’ll be able to go back to sleep, and chances are you’ll wake up pain-free in the morning.

Here’s what people are saying about the ACV gallbladder remedy:

…maybe took about 10 minutes and most pain gone….I of course, remained awake waiting for the pain to come back…but it didn’t….and at least got 4 hours of sleep before having to start a busy day.

And here’s another one:

…Took 2 teaspoon of ACV with 8oz of apple juice. Like magic, pain is gone. This remedy works! Going back to sleep now…

And another:

…Normally I just go to the ER and get pumped full of fluids till it passes however I didn’t want to last night. Instead of doing that, I tried apple cider vinegar in apple juice. 30 min later I felt much MUCH better. And this morning I woke up with 0 pain! Awesome!

Why Does Apple Cider Vinegar Help Gallbladder Pain?

Through my research, I’ve found that bitter vinegar stimulates bile flow and contains malic acid to soften gallstones for smoother passage and pain relief.

Apple cider vinegar is believed to help relieve gallbladder pain due to its anti-inflammatory properties.

It contains malic acid, which can help dissolve certain types of gallstones and thin bile and gallbladder sludge.

It contains phenols that have been shown to have anti-inflammatory potential, and vitamin C, which can also help reduce inflammation.

Why Use Apple Cider Vinegar with the Mother?

Well:

The clear apple cider vinegar on your grocery store shelves has been processed to the point that it retains very little of its natural nutrients, concentrated in the sediment, called the “mother” – which makes it cloudy.

For example, this one is 100% raw, organic, and unfiltered.

How to Relieve Gallbladder Pain During Pregnancy

Using the effective remedy you’ve just found here is considered safe to use during pregnancy.

Though safety is not proven clinically, many pregnant women use ACV as a remedy for many things – including nausea and gallbladder issues.

According to HealthLine, no harm or complications were ever reported or connected with using ACV during pregnancy – whether pasteurized or not.

What Causes Gallbladder Pain?

gallbladder pain causes

The gallbladder is a small sac located just under the liver.

It stores bile made by the liver, to help you digest fat.

Bile moves from your Gall bladder to the small intestine through tubes called the cystic duct or common bile duct.

Now:

The components of the bile can crystallize and harden in your gallbladder, leading to gallstones.

According to Harvard Health Publications, 80% of gallstones are made of Cholesterol (Choledocholithiasis), and 20% are made of calcium salts and bilirubin (pigment stones).

Gallstones themselves don’t cause pain. Gallbladder attacks usually occur when the gallstones block the movement of bile from the gallbladder.

The crazy thing is:

Millions of people have gallstones without any kind of pain whatsoever.

Plus, according to the Florida Hospital, only about 3% of people who suffer from painful symptoms, develop inflammation – the leading cause of gallbladder removal.

Where is Gallbladder Pain FELT?

A gallbladder attack feels like a sudden and rapidly intensifying pain in the upper right of your abdomen, sometimes radiating to your right shoulder and between your shoulder blades.

You’ll need to seek immediate care if you develop the following signs of gallstones complications, such as:

1. Abdominal pain is so intense that you can’t sit still.

2. Yellowing of your skin and the whites of your eyes (Jaundice)

3. High fever and chills

But, if you’re not experiencing these severe symptoms, here’s how to dramatically reduce (and sometimes eliminate) the pain with this simple gallbladder attack home remedy:

The Best Home Remedies for Gallstones

If you’ve had more than a couple of attacks, most doctors will (firmly suggest) a Gallbladder Removal (Cholecystectomy), claiming that:

  • It’s the only way to stop gallbladder pain
  • It’s something that your body will accept quite nicely.

But this is not the whole truth.

Gallbladder Surgery is not an easy out. It is a drastic step that alters digestion:

Without a gallbladder for storage, bile drips continuously from the liver into the digestive tract with nothing to stop it.

So hardly any is available when you need bile to digest a fatty meal.

This can lead to uncomfortable indigestion, poor absorption of healthy fats and fat-soluble vitamins, hormonal imbalance, and diarrhea.

Nearly one million gallbladders are removed every year in this country, and it is my estimate that only several thousand need to come out. – Dr. Joseph Mercola

So, how can you prevent the next gallbladder pain attack and avoid surgery?

You’ll need to increase bile flow to prevent more gallstones from forming and gallstone disease, and try to flush out the ones that you already have.

The following herbs increase the flow of bile flow and reduce gallstones (Cholelithiasis):

The Best Home Remedies for Gallstones

  1. Milk Thistle (liver tonic)
  2. Turmeric (increases bile solubility)
  3. Dandelion Root
  4. Artichoke
  5. Burdock Root
  6. Yellowdock Root
  7. Licorice (liver tonic)

Here’s a natural protocol to combat gallstones and promote liver function – naturally:

1. Try to reduce fat intake for a while, especially unnatural and toxic fats like hydrogenated oils, canola, and soy. Natural fats (like butter) are better.

2. Red yeast rice reduces cholesterol, and its active compound is used to make pharmaceutical drugs for cholesterol reduction.

3. Exercise (always important)

4. Vitamin C makes cholesterol more water-soluble, allowing the body to better eliminate excesses.

Here’s the shockingly simple (and cheap) way to make your own Vitamin C supplement – at home

5. 2 tablespoons of ACV daily, mixed in apple juice.

6. Dandelion root tea daily, Turmeric tea daily

What Foods Can Trigger a Gallbladder Attack?

According to Medical News Today, refined carbohydrates increase the risk of gallbladder attacks.

Refined carbs include sugars, sweeteners, flour, starches, and refined grains, mostly found in baked foods, candy, chocolate, and soft drinks.

Also, excessive fats and fatty foods may force your gallbladder to work overtime. These include foods with trans fat, fried foods, red meat, and foods with hydrogenated oils.

Try to do some lifestyle changes and remove these from your special high-fiber gallbladder diet.

How Long Can a Gallbladder Attack Last?

According to HealthLine, A gallbladder attack or gallstone blockage can last anywhere from 15 minutes to a few hours.

However, in the case of gallbladder disease, you can experience gallbladder problems for days or even weeks – triggered by gallstones or gallbladder infection.

What Side Do You Lay On for Gallbladder Pain?

Through my research, I’ve found that laying on a couch – on your right side with your back against the couch and your head on the couch arm can be a little relieving for belly pain from the gallbladder.

I also found that heating pads are very useful for alleviating pain – you can place them on your right side and set them to automatically shut off after 30 minutes.

Does Gallbladder Pain Come and Go?

Most of the time, gallbladder pain comes and goes, depending on the Gallbladder problem. The pain ranges from mild and irregular to very severe, frequent pain.
According to several sources, including Johns Hopkins Medicine, and Cleveland Clinic, gallbladder pain can last for a few minutes to several hours and can come and go in waves. The pain is often severe and steady.

Conclusion

The ACV gallbladder pain remedy is possibly one of the most powerful ways to relieve gallbladder pain in 15 minutes – without medication or gallbladder removal surgery.

ACV is one of the most powerful home remedies on earth, and there are dozens of amazing home uses for Apple Cider Vinegar.

Here’s one more testimonial I’ve found about this remedy online:

I found organic Apple Cider Vinegar and mixed 3 teaspoons with 8 oz of apple juice and sipped the concoction until it was gone. Over the course of about an hour and fifteen minutes I went from wanting to curl up in fetal position due to the pain to feeling just some mild pressure. Not sure how this will turn out BUT this solution has been RADICALLY more effective than anything else I have tried for the last 30 years. Now I’m sipping an a second batch just to see what happens.

It is absolutely unbelievable. I cannot say if it will work for anyone else, but it has truly been a God-send for me. (source)

Note: Obviously, this remedy does not work in all situations. If your gallbladder is seriously inflamed or has a wall thickening issue – it may not work and even make the pain worse.

Before you try this powerful gallstone remedy, make sure you don’t have the symptoms of serious gallbladder infection, detailed at the beginning of this post.

To your health and happiness,

Meital

  1. Found this page when searching for something to help my mom with a gall bladder attack. It worked quickly and have used the remedy three more times over the course of several years. Nearly a year ago she had a large stone blocking her bile duct that had to be surgically removed. She was told that at 96 with heart issues, she was not a candidate for gall bladder removal and was sent home. This morning she woke up with that familiar pain again and asked me to mix up the remedy for her. The pain started lessening pretty quickly. She is relaxing with a heating pad and is doing much better. ER trip averted. So glad to know this simple remedy is effective!

  2. Apparently, I have sludge in my gall bladder from time to time. I have always been a clean eater and don’t eat fried foods, baked goods, and no dairy except a little milk in my tea. I was shocked to be told I have a gall bladder problem in the first place! My first 2 attacks sent me to the hospital and they wanted to remove it. I didn’t go for that. The next time I had an attack, I just sipped on straight ACV with a bit of water, which caused me to puke. Immediately the pain was gone. I have had two other attacks. I did the exact same thing and the pain was gone immediately. I’m sure nobody likes to throw up but it’s preferable to writhing in pain for hours!

  3. I WAS TOLD I HAVE SLUDGE NOT STONES… DO THESE TREATMENTS WORK THE SAME AS FOR STONES?

Thank you so much for all the helpful information.
I had my first Gallstone attack several weeks ago. I was sure I was having a heart attack. An overnight stay in the hospital and many tests the outcome was my gallbladder. I was dehydrated and was advised my choice was to have elective surgery at a later date. I immediately got online and found out surgery was not my only choice. I’ve had two short flare-ups and because of my research knew exactly what I needed to do. My diet had changed for the better and I’m thrilled to know I can do this… Water has always been my choice of drink and I can live without all the bad foods in my body. Make a paste of one teaspoon Turmeric, two teaspoons of honey each morning. Thank you

  5. I wanted to share my experience. I had some mild to moderate gallbladder pain that would not go away for days. Pain in the gallbladder area and around my right shoulder/shoulder blade. I quickly read a bunch of sites about natural remedies, including yours. After reading your article and did as it said… and nothing happened for me. 15 minutes, 1 hour, longer. Nothing seemed to change. I figured that may have been since mine was a low-level pain and I was not experiencing an “attack” of some kind. (btw I bought and used the exact ACV brand you mentioned). I started to take 3-4oz. of lemon juice every morning mixed with 3 tablespoons ACV. After a day or two, I couldn’t tell a difference. But a few days I noticed that my pain had decreased from what it was in the beginning. After about 10 days my pain was low enough that I felt comfortable doing a bit of strength training. I am about two weeks in and my pain has reduced about 85-90% of what it started at. Something’s working!! I am VERY THANKFUL for that; I did not want someone to cut my gallbladder out (I am 33 btw). I mixed lemon juice with my ACV so it’s not EXACTLY the same, but I just wanted to share this with you or others in case they try this and think it didn’t work. I say keep trying it for 1-2 weeks and maybe add some lemon juice. Regards, Nick

  6. OMG, normally I take the natural approach to everything. But I had a dental issue that required oral surgery. That started the course of anabiotic‘s, Motrin, more anabiotic‘s. By the time that 20+ day period was up, I ended up with stomach issues. Of course not wanting to take any more pills to correct that, I was told to eat yogurt to alleviate the flora in my gut. Of course, being lactose intolerant, that started pain in my upper right quadrant. I realize that it very well may be my gallbladder. As a big proponent of Apple Cider vinegar, I gave the remedy a try. I’m ecstatic, it worked. Thank you so much. Susan.

  7. Moe I’m thrilled that it worked for you, and took exactly 15 minutes as promised…great!

I hope this was your last time going through this, all the best to you.

  8. Thanks for this post! I have had minor gall bladder pain on a few occasions, but this last time it had persisted, intermittently, for a few days. The pain wasn’t especially severe, but it was ruining my sleep.

I found your post and used orange juice because I didn’t have apple juice in the house. Didn’t taste very good, but it worked like a charm. 15 minutes on my right side and pain-free.

I’m getting some apple juice and more ACV today!

  9. A lot of us don’t suffer the traditional gallbladder pain and for lots, it’s just a dull continuous ache under the ribs.
Therefore not only blockages cause issues, but the stones themselves can also cause pain every time you eat. It also causes horrible reflux in so many of us ( I am on several gallbladder forums) so also not related to ‘an attack where its stuck’
So gallstones themselves do cause pain, every time they are mobile and rubbing and moving around in the gallbladder after food as a lot of us well know.
I am a regular drinker of dandelion tea and have been for many years as well as literally poring Tumeric on all my food, hasn’t stopped me from getting a gallbladder full of stones up to 1.5 cm in size 🙁
Also, surgery is not an easy option but there are lots of people who have not removed their gallbladder despite stones and attacks and ended up in emergency surgery with rupture, serious infections, blockages, and some have died.
